  • Year 5 Residential

    Thu 08 Jun 2023

Year 5 had an amazing time at Phasels Wood last week. They were great at putting up their tents and showed wonderful teamwork throughout. They got to try archery, crate stacking, peddle go-karting and many more exciting activities which enhanced our curriculum. The children were wonderfully behaved and were even quiet (not asleep) but quiet by 11pm! A big THANK YOU to Mrs Gerber, Ms Cooper and Mrs Wilson for giving up their time to make this trip so successful!

  • Year 3 Trip to Verulamium

    Wed 07 Jun 2023

This week, Year 3 took an exciting trip to the Verulamium Museum in St Albans. They took part in an interesting, very informative and fun workshop where they went shopping in a Roman Market. They explored the museum and visited the remains of the Roman town walls. What a great way to start our new history topic!

  • Year 4 Egyptian Day

    Tue 06 Jun 2023

Year 4 enjoyed a brilliant workshop learning all about the Egyptians! We found out all about the 70 day mummification process and the children were excellent at taking on the different roles involved. In the photo the priest was wearing a mask of Anubis, the Jackal god, who was the embalmer and protector of the dead. He was removing some of the organs as part of the process. Great start to our Egyptian’s topic!

  • One World Week

    Fri 19 May 2023

This week has been One World Week. This year’s focus is inspired by David Attenborough’s Wild Isles, this year’s theme is ONE WILD WORLD. We would like the children to think about wildlife in different parts of the world, the ecosystems involved and, most importantly, the impact of human activity and climate change on that wildlife.

The sun was shining on Thursday afternoon for our One Wild World sharing assembly, which was a wonderful way to complete the half term. I really hoped you enjoyed seeing what the classes have been up to this week and hearing about their learning. It was such a speculator display of singing, dancing and creative work.

Below are the countries that the different classes were learning about...

Nursery & Reception —The British Isles

    Year 1— China

    Year 2—Australia

    Year 3—Canada

    Year 4- Brazil

    Year 5—South Africa

    Year 6—Urban Jungle (Singapore)

  • Year 6 Residential

    Sun 14 May 2023

Year 6 left on Sunday 14th May and travelled to Kent where they spent the next 4 days. The weather was kind to them and the little bit of rain did not dampen their spirits. The got to experience lots of amazing activities. Although, speaking to Year 6, fencing, the zip wire and fire lighting seemed to be the favourites ones! They had a wonderful time and made lots of memories to take away from Chambersbury. The instructors commented on their good manners and positive behaviour which made me proud as their headteacher. A big thank you to Mrs Good and Miss Alford for organising the trip and giving up their time to make this special!

  • Coronation Picnic

    Fri 12 May 2023

To celebrate the King's Coronation and the end of KS2 SATS (well done Year 6!) we planned a picnic outside. Typically it has rained which meant we had our coronation celebration inside with children enjoying a picnic indoors. The hall was decorated with flags and bunting and music to give a party atmosphere. All classes have also had the opportunity to complete different fun activities to celebrate this historic event.

  • Year 5 and 6 Police Visit—Online Safety Talk

Last Friday, the local police visited Year 5 and 6 to talk about online safety and how to keep us safe online. They talked about issues like cyber-bullying, hidden identify , inappropriate images and online privacy. The police officers shared lots of real examples of how people in out community have been badly impacted by cyber issues. The visit was inspiring because we now know the real-life impact of our online actions.

  • Fire Service Visitors to EYFS

    Mon 24 Apr 2023

EYFS have had some exciting visitors the past couple of weeks. Last Monday, the Hertfordshire Fire Service came to visit. The children asked the firefighters lots of questions and learnt about fire safety. We then went to view the fire engine in the playground and even got the chance to sit inside! The highlight of the visit was when we all got to use the hosepipe, the playground had quite a soaking! This week we had a visit from Mr Johnson who is also a firefighter. We learnt about the firefighting equipment, calling 999 in case of an emergency and Miss Alford got to try the protective clothing that fire fighters need to wear when putting out fires!
