  • Creativity in the Woods

Thu 18 Jan 2018 Miss Alford

Reception went on their first 'Creativity in the woods' session at Phasels wood on Wednesday 17th January. During this session we learnt the rules that we have to follow at the woods in order to keep us safe, the puppet Borris the Badger helped us to remember them!

The children sat in pairs and looked at some of Andy Goldsworthy's artwork in our classroom 'Bryn Bac'- the children were able to talk about the pictures and resources that he had used. We then went out into the woods to find some resources to use to make our own pictures back at school the next day. These are some photos of our collecting and some of the finished masterpieces!

  • Digging for Victory at BFI

Tue 16 Jan 2018 Mr Guilder

On Tuesday 16th January 2018, Year 6 visited BFI Southbank in London for an incredible History lesson on World War 2. Using movies, news clips and an interview with an evacuee -who experienced the blitz and had to move because of the bombings - we learnt lots about propaganda, personal experiences of the war and the impact on people in Britain.

In the afternoon we watched the moving film Good Night Mr Tom. Samir reflected, “I loved it but it was sad at the same time.” Fajar added, “I learnt how bad the war was and that it caused more pain than just the killing.”
