  • World Book Day

    Fri 04 Mar 2022

Happy 25th Anniversary to World Book Day! We have been celebrating this important day throughout the week by talking, sharing, reading and writing about the stories and books we love.

Classes have been visited for story-time by ‘Mystery Readers’ who have shared their favourite stories with the children. Older classes have visited younger classes to support with reading and to talk about books.

Thank you to everyone who attended our second hand book sale we raised approximately £160 in donations. Many thanks to you all as this money will be going towards the cost of new Guided Reading books throughout the school. All classes got to visit the second hand book sale again today and they have all chosen another book (or two) to bring home.

We celebrated reading in assembly by handing out certificates and we even played a game of "Where’s Wally?".

    Year 3 Trip to Verulamium

On Wednesday, Year 3 visited the Verulamium Museum in St Albans. The children had an amazing time exploring the wonders of Roman life, admiring the intricate mosaics and dressing up as Romans themselves. During the Market interactive session, Year 3 had an opportunity to visit different stalls, discovering a variety of Roman items, from food to clothing and household objects to past-times hobbies. We then took a muddy walk towards the Hypocaust where we looked at the ancient underfloor heating system covered by a beautiful mosaic. We finished off our trip by walking past the Roman Wall and having lunch in the museum, before heading back home.
