  • Year 2 Trip to Hudnall Park

    Tue 19 Oct 2021

To support their learning across the curriculum Year 2 visited Hudnall Park for a day of exciting outdoor activities. They learnt about different materials, and which materials would be good for different animal homes. They also looked at a range of habitats and discussed what might live there. They also made some natural sculptures using the different materials and resources found, and in the afternoon went on a bug hunt. The children were very surprised by the range of creatures found and worked hard to identify them using scientific keys.

  • Nursery, Reception & Year 1 Trip to Willows Farm

    Thu 14 Oct 2021

We all went to Willows Farm... ee-i-ee-i-o!

And on that farm we had some fun... ee-i-ee-i-o!

The children in Lower School had a lovely trip to Willows Farm where they got to see lots of animals including alpacas, rabbits, goats and many more.

They also went on Tristan the Tractor which was lots of fun. The day was filled with smiles and we had a very sleepy coach on the way home.

  • Science Week

    Fri 08 Oct 2021

This week the whole school has immersed themselves in science. Each class has researched a famous scientists linked to their current topic. In class the children also spent time designing and creating their own inventions and made some Rube Goldberg machines.

All classes also had the opportunity to attend a workshop. They all enjoyed carrying out experiences, asking questions and exploring answers. This was a great way to support the children's investigation skills. Thank you to Miss Elias for organising the week!

  • Year 5 Trip to Hever Castle

    Thu 07 Oct 2021

This week, Year 5 went to Hever Castle (the childhood home of Anne Boleyn). What a beautiful place. The children took part in a workshop where they had the opportunity to experience life in the Tudor times by playing games and dressing up.

We had a fantastic tour of the moat and castle which I know will inspire the children’s learning back in the classroom.

  • Harvest Celebration

    Fri 01 Oct 2021

On Friday 1st October, we held our Harvest Celebration assembly. We sang songs, heard poems from year 2 and were amazed by facts about harvest from year 6. Year 6 gave the school lots to think about when they shared facts about the lack of access to clean water throughout the world and how families in our local area are struggling for food.

We received in excess of 2000 items to donate to charity which is a fantastic achievement! Due to the amount of items, we donated some food to the local food banks as well as a massive 155kg of items to the Trussell Trust. Many families also sent a text donation to DENs.

As part of our Harvest Celebration we wished Rev. Howlett a happy retirement and donated food to his church’s food bank as a farewell gift. He loved the card the children made him and was extremely happy about his retirement gift for the food bank!

A fantastic team effort! Well done to all and thank you on behalf of the charities we were able to support this year.
