  • Dog's Trust Visit

    Mon 31 Oct 2016 Samuel & Sonny

On Monday 31st October 2016 Gemma from the dogs trust came to visit us for a whole school assembly and to meet each of our classes.

She didn't bring in a real dog because some people might be allergic to them but she did bring in a model called Chloe. She told us about the Dog's Trust, how they care for the dogs who have been abandoned and have no home. They provide them with food and some love. We also heard that they try to find dogs new homes.

"I loved everything about the assembly because I love dogs!" - Sonny

  • Year 2 Frogmore Paper Mill Trip

Tue 18 Oct 2016 Miss Dimmock
On Tuesday 18th October 2016, Year 2 went to Frogmore Paper Mill. We have been learning about the local area and next term we will be looking at the history of the paper industry in Hemel Hempstead. We saw the first paper making machine and also learnt to make our own handmade paper. We found out that you can make paper from any type of plant, we even learnt you can make paper from elephant poo! (Don't worry it didn't smell!)

William from Year 2 said "That was a fantastic trip, I learnt about the Fourdrinier Machine and how it was the first machine to ever make paper."
  • DSSN Cross Country - Year 3&4

Fri 14 Oct 2016 Mr Walker

A group of year 3 and 4 children visited Longdean on Friday Morning to represent the school at the Dacorum School Sports cross country event.

The children were very well behaved and listened well to the instructions for the run and the finishing ‘funnel’. The year 3 girls set off first and set the bar very high with 2nd, 4th, 9th and 13th placed finishes. The year 3 boys came next with an equally impressive set of finishes with 4th, 9th, 15th, 18th, 30th and 33rd in a big field.

The year 4 girls started next and the field spread out quickly, with some of the other girls going off at a very fast pace. Our girls paced themselves very well and had 2nd, 7th, 10th, 12thand 34th place finishes. Our year 4 boys finished the event with the biggest field and again, they performed very well. They ran hard and we had 15th, 26th, 27th, 33rd and 36th place finishes, an excellent display of determined running against some very quick boys.

I am very proud of all the children that took part and the way they ran for the school. We await the results after half term.

  • Osiligi Maasai Warriors Visit

Thu 13 Oct 2016 Mr Guilder

On Thursday 15th October we were visited by the Osiligi Maasai Warriors from Kenya. They presented an assembly packed full of dance, music and information. We loved sharing in their culture and enjoyed taking part in jumping. Members of the tribe came to our classes for even more fun and so that we could ask questions and find out more about the tribe.

The morning consisted of a range of different sporting activities which focused on lots of different sports skills. All children took part and tried their very best against five tough schools.

All children did a brilliant job!

  • Harvest Festival

Tue 04 Oct 2016 Mr Guilder

Chambersbury Primary School celebrated harvest with a collection for local charity DENS and a special harvest assembly with the whole Chambersbury family.

Children donated hundreds of items to help people who are struggling with homelessness in our local community. They thought carefully about bringing in non-perishable goods, with over 650 items being provided. Year 2 & 4 especially donated an impressive amount!

During our assembly children from across the school performed a number of songs, and classes shared what they have been learning about harvest during lessons. There were stories, rhymes, poetry and some impressive artwork. Mr Taylor shared about how important Harvest is and how the food we brought in would be used.
