• Healthy Living & Sports Week 2023

  We had an extremely busy week! This week was enriched by lots of visitors from local sporting clubs including Langley tennis, Natalie Marshall School of Dance, Mighty Netball, Game On and JP Pro. Scottish Gymnast, Steve Frew, finished the week in spectacular fashion. He was very inspiring and talked about perseverance being important. He also told the children that achieving your goals takes dedication and a lot of hard work! We have raised over £1700 online for Sports for Schools . The cash received is yet to be counted and banked so we could go over the £2000 mark! The school will receive some of this back in sports equipment so thank you for your kind generosity!

  

• Sports Day 2023

  The rain held off and Sports Day went ahead! We started the day with a warm up led by Miss Alford and Mrs Stevens (with a little help from year 4). We hope you enjoyed watching ‘Jump Jam’ and seeing some of the routines we use as a way to keep fit physically and mentally.

  The morning races were extremely close with only 20 points separating 4th and 1st place. However, Indian Owls jumped, threw and batted into the lead with a whopping 5882 points!

  It was a fantastic day and lovely to see so many families enjoying the healthy competition and joining us for a Chambersbury Family picnic. Well done for all the House groups and congratulations Red House! We really hoped you enjoyed Sports Day as much as we did - especially the family picnic!

  

• Year 1 Great Fire of London Workshop

  Year 1 have been learning about The Great Fire of London. They had a fun and informative workshop led by staff from the local museum. The children were able to handle artefacts from history and discovered lots of interesting facts about the Great Fire of London.

  

• Sporting Events

  We’ve been very busy and had a very successful week!

   

  Year 3 competed in an Olympic Sports event at Longdean. They showed good team work and put in a fantastic effort. They came 3rd! What a wonderful result and great achievement. Well done Year 3!

   

  On Tuesday, the football team played Belswains. It was a close match especially towards the end of the game when Belswains scored. However, dedication and hard work put in by the team meant they won 4 –2. Ethan got ‘Player of the Match’ for a solid all around performance running the length of the pitch and back to support his team.

• Year 4 Bridges Trip

  This week year 4 visited the canal to study the different bridges in our local area. This is part of their Science project to gain ideas for their own bridge designs.

• Art Winner - King’s Coronation Year Time Capsule Contest!

  Congratulations to Laura, who won the Marlowes Shopping Centre art competition to design a poster of items to include in a time capsule. The theme was the ‘King’s Coronation Year ‘. Laura’s work and the items she suggested are to be place in a time capsule at the Marlowes and opened in 10 years time. The Marlowes’ management team (who judged the competition) were impressed with her thoughtful design and said is was chosen out of hundreds of entries.

   

  Laura received an art box as a prize while the school was given £1000! What a proud day for Laura, her family and the school.

   

  A big thank you to Mrs Gavin who gives up her time to give the children these wonderful opportunities.

  

• Nursery and Reception Trip to Ruislip Lido

  This week, Nursery and Reception visited Ruislip Lido for a day of fun! The weather was glorious and the children got to climb a giant pirate ship, make sand castles and eat ice creams. Both children and adults had a wonderful trip.

  

• Year 5 Residential

  Year 5 had an amazing time at Phasels Wood last week. They were great at putting up their tents and showed wonderful teamwork throughout. They got to try archery, crate stacking, peddle go-karting and many more exciting activities which enhanced our curriculum. The children were wonderfully behaved and were even quiet (not asleep) but quiet by 11pm! A big THANK YOU to Mrs Gerber, Ms Cooper and Mrs Wilson for giving up their time to make this trip so successful!

  

• Year 3 Trip to Verulamium

  This week, Year 3 took an exciting trip to the Verulamium Museum in St Albans. They took part in an interesting, very informative and fun workshop where they went shopping in a Roman Market. They explored the museum and visited the remains of the Roman town walls. What a great way to start our new history topic!

  

• Year 4 Egyptian Day

  Year 4 enjoyed a brilliant workshop learning all about the Egyptians! We found out all about the 70 day mummification process and the children were excellent at taking on the different roles involved. In the photo the priest was wearing a mask of Anubis, the Jackal god, who was the embalmer and protector of the dead. He was removing some of the organs as part of the process. Great start to our Egyptian’s topic!
