OPAL Journey update

Earlier this year Chambersbury started their OPAL journey with visits from our Play Advisor. She has been around at lunchtimes to support school to make changes in play and improve what we have already. She has already seen a big difference (since September) in the lunchtime provision and notes the good work already started.

Mud, mud, glorious mud, Nothing quite like it...especially at playtime!

We are encouraging the children to play a range of different games at lunch and are taking time to play and model these in lessons. The children may play on the trim trial, go on the gym and run around the grass areas by the playground. This does mean they may get muddy especially if they are collecting the leaves or mud to play a game. Having a change of shoes at school and a washable coat will be a must moving forward. Thankfully, the school uniform is designed to be quick and easy to wash. We also encourage outside learning during our curriculum lessons therefore having a change of shoes can come in useful for these important lessons. School is meant for learning, exploring, experimenting through play and sometimes this means getting dirty.

Every fortnight we have a Play Assembly to introduce new equipment and resources for lunchtime. Our last additions have been sheets/blankets, chalk and this week tires! The Play Team introduce the resources in an assembly and discuss how it can be used safely and collect ideas of how to use it! We are a creative bunch
