Year 6 Residential

Monday 15th May 2023

WOW! What a busy day we had yesterday. It all kicked off with breakfast at an eye wateringly early 7:15am and then we went straight into archery. We played games with out instructors to help with our aim!
After that, we headed deep into the woods where we learnt all about shelter building out of natural resources. We were challenged to design the best shelter with lots of different features. Some even had gardens and dog houses.

After lunch we had a ‘Get Connected’ session where we played lots of different games including bingo, 2 truths 1 lie and memory games. Then it was time for LEAP OF FAITH!! This challenged us to climb up a pole in a harness and get as far as we could! The challenge was to get to the top of the pole, stand on a platform and jump from the top! It was a big challenge and we all had to face our fears but we had a great time and want to do it again!

Before dinner we had one last challenge - buggy building! We had to build these out of barrels, wooden poles and ropes. We all made a buggy and even got to have a ride on them.
After a lovely dinner, we had our campfire where we sang lots of songs,  had hot chocolate and marshmallows and sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our Eloise! Thanks Mrs Abbot for the cake!

It’s fair to say that we were all pooped by the end of a really busy day. We had our showers, read a story and headed to bed, ready for another busy day tomorrow.

Archery, Shelter Building & Get Connected

Year 6 Kingswood TrIp - Sunday 14th May

Yesterday, we arrived to a sunny Kingswood and the fun started straight away! After a quick lunch, we launched straight into the first activity which was working as a team to solve a range of physical and mental problems.
After that, we headed to our dorms and the children (successfully!) made their beds and got themselves settled in to their rooms for the next few nights. We had a lovely dinner of either Spaghetti Bolognese or Italian Chicken and then got ready for our final activity!

Scrap heap challenge saw us design a new invention which would help make our teachers’ lives easier. After making it, we had to present this to the teachers - Dragons Den style! All the inventions were very creative and there were some ... interesting... pitches!

Then, after a quick biscuit and story, it was time for bed. We are looking forward to a fun filled day tomorrow!
