Week 3

It is important for their well-being, that all of the children in our care eat a good meal during the day.  In order to ensure that our children get a meal that they would like to eat, the school offers Pupils’ Choice.  The children are able to choose, at the beginning of each day, which meal they would like to eat on the day from the choices given.  They have the choice of a hot meal, a vegetarian meal, pasta dish, jacket potato and roll meal.  The meal choices are below if you would like to see the choices of meals your child has.

Packed Lunch

The children can bring a home packed lunch if they prefer.  Please ensure this lunch contains healthy options to eat. We aim to offer the right balance when it comes to your children’s meals and ensure that the meals being provided are always of the highest quality, and still affordable. Please remember that some sandwich fillings or lunch box items could trigger a severe reaction therefore we ask that parents avoid using these especially peanut based products. (Cans, glass bottles and fizzy drinks are also not allowed.)

If you would like your child to have a school dinner, please let the school office know before 9.15am of each day.  This so the cook has sufficient time to make the right quantities of food.  If your child is going to be late to school due to a medical appointment, it will still be necessary to contact the school before 9.15am to book a school meal of your child’s choice.

Snacks

Children can bring in a snack to eat at breaktimes but please ensure it is healthy (sorry no crisps or chocolate for snacks please). Children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and 2 will be offered a fruit snack at breaktime which is provided through the 'free fruit for schools' scheme. They are welcome to bring in their own snack however please keep it healthy.

Food Allergies

You should inform the school on admission of your child (or immediately if medical needs change) if you know your child suffers from a food allergy. This will allow staff to be informed and a medical care plan put into place (where needed). It is not unusual for schools to have pupils who suffer from severe allergies and this will be managed on an individual basis. On occasion, a pupil can be so sensitive to the allergen that the school will need to take extra measures, for example, ban it from the premises. When this is the case, parents would be informed in order to keep the child safe.
