Tag Rugby Tournament

On Thursday 7th May, the children from Years 3 and 4 had a fantastic day of rugby coaching and competition provided by Saracens Rugby club.
58 children set off for Camelot Rugby Club in the morning and took part in a number of activities including Rugby Netball, a rugby version of duck-duck-goose as well as a number of other activities to develop Tag Rugby skills.

After lunch, the children split into six teams to begin competing against the other 70 teams from around Dacorum district.  The children all played very well, showing how well their PE skills are developing.  We also saw leadership skills from some pupils for which we were very impressed.

At the end of this stage, we were told which teams had scored enough points to go through to the quarter finals... 2 of our teams were in this!

The 2 teams began their matches.  Unfortunately, the Year 3 team got knocked out at this stage, but the Year 4's won, moving into the semi-finals.  The next match was one of the best of the day, with both teams bravely battling throughout and remaining so close that it had to go into three rounds of extra time until Chambersbury finally emerged as the winners... They had made it through to the final!!

It seemed that the challenging match before paid its price and we we ended the competition in second place; a MASSIVE achievement.

We are all immensely proud of all the children who took part and what they have all achieved.  They all received certificates to show this, with the Year 3 and 4 finalists also getting Headteacher's awards.
Well done everyone!
