British Values

We started the year by writing House Captain speeches about our positive qualities.  A group of hopefuls went in front of their House Group and gave their speech.  Their group voted for who they thought would make a good leader.

In Year 6 we have been busy promoting one of our key values ‘TOGETHER’.

We entered a class competition to design bunting for Dacorum Council with the title ‘Living together and accepting differences’.  As a class we discussed what this meant and came up with the idea that our bunting pieces would have the same image – a hand – yet they would all be different in their own way.

The House Captains were invited to see the Council Chambers and see the bunting displayed.  They were given the chance to vote for their own superhero as a demonstration how democracy works.

“We had a great time especially when Superman turned up.  He wanted us to vote him the best as he tried to persuade us why we should.  We got to sit in the Chambers where lots of important decisions are made.”

By Hayden and Haider.

“Our bunting looked great and we got second place as a team!”

By Skye and Sienna

To celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II being the longest reigning British monarch, the children cut out images of her and positioned them into a college.  They also painted bunting to decorate the classroom.
